At AESI, we believe in the transformative power of sustainable employment and skill development. In collaboration with eThekwini Municipality we have been honoured with the opportunity to participate in the Public Employment Programme (PEP), this stands as a testament to our commitment to both community empowerment and environmental stewardship.
Through PEP, we've had the privilege of engaging with over 200 local community members, offering them a unique opportunity to contribute to the well-being of both their community and the environment. Our participants, ranging from Field Rangers to General Assistants, Supervisors, and Site Coordinators, embarked on a journey that went beyond employment—it was about fostering a sense of purpose and pride.
A highlight of the program is the transformation of our Field Rangers. These individuals, after rigorous training at the prestigious South African Wildlife College, have emerged as qualified and dedicated stewards of nature. Their expertise in conservation not only benefits the local environment but also showcases the potential for individuals to become guardians of our precious ecosystems.
Our commitment to holistic development extends beyond specific roles. Participants underwent comprehensive training in Customer Care, First Aid, and Snake Handling, ensuring they possess a diverse skill set essential for both their personal growth and the demands of their roles. On-the-job training in Nature Reserve Cleaning and Maintenance equipped them with practical skills, while specialized sessions focused on the identification and removal of alien plant species addressed critical ecological challenges.
